His Honour Bryn Holloway, Barrister
9th October 2015 – Incumbent
The IAS are pleased to announce the appointment of His Honour Bryn Holloway as their Lead Adjudicator.
The Lead Adjudicator's role is to oversee the independence of the service and to promote consistency amongst the Adjudicators.
Bryn is married with two children. He was born, bred and educated in Shropshire before studying law in London. He was called to the Bar in 1971 and began pupillage in Liverpool in early 1972 where he remained in chambers and specialised in criminal law both for the prosecution and the defence. Bryn was appointed as a part-time judge in the early 1980s and became a full-time circuit judge in 1992 until his retirement in 2012, during those years he sat in Liverpool dealing with criminal cases.
Bryn would like to continue to have in place a straight forward, efficient, consistent and independent appeals system which deals fairly and expeditiously with disputes that arise between motorists and parking operators.
Appeals to the IAS are considered by independent adjudicators, known as ADR Officials. There are six ADR Officials who adjudicate appeals which are all overseen by a Lead Adjudicator whose role it is to maintain the integrity of the service. All ADR Officials are qualified solicitors or barristers who are appointed under a contract of self-employment of open duration. Apart the Lead Adjudicator, the identities of IAS ADR Official are not disclosed to the public to uphold security, avoid undue influence, and maintain impartiality.
